Driving from Sahuarita to Feldman Disability Law: How to Reach Your Tucson Disability Attorney

sahuarita

If you live in Sahuarita and need help with a Social Security disability claim, you may be wondering how hard it is to get to a lawyer in Tucson. The trip is easier than most people expect. Almost all of it is highway driving, and the last few miles follow two wide city streets that are easy to spot.

Feldman Disability Law is located at 2910 N. Swan Road, Suite 205, in midtown Tucson. This guide covers the drive from Sahuarita, how long to plan for, where to watch for construction, and what to do if you cannot drive yourself.

Where the Office Is Located

Our office sits on North Swan Road just north of Glenn Street, between Glenn Street and Fort Lowell Road. This is a quiet part of midtown Tucson, about a mile west of Tucson Medical Center. If you have ever driven to TMC for treatment or testing, you have already been in the neighborhood.

The full address is 2910 N. Swan Road, Suite 205, Tucson, AZ 85712. The office phone number is 520-881-3989.

The Main Route from Sahuarita

Start by getting on Interstate 19 heading north. Most Sahuarita residents use the Sahuarita Road interchange. Keep in mind that I-19 is the one highway in Arizona that posts distances in kilometers instead of miles, so the numbers on the green signs will look higher than you expect.

Stay on I-19 north for about 15 miles. As you get close to downtown Tucson, follow the signs for I-10 east toward Benson and El Paso. Stay on I-10 for roughly five miles, then take Exit 265 for Alvernon Way.

Turn left at the end of the ramp so you are heading north on Alvernon Way. Stay on Alvernon for about six miles until you reach Grant Road, a major east and west street with a traffic light. Turn right on Grant and drive one mile to Swan Road. Turn left on Swan and head north. You will cross Glenn Street, and the office is just past it.

How Long the Drive Takes

Plan on about 30 miles and 35 to 45 minutes each way. Traffic on I-10 and Alvernon Way is heaviest between 7 a.m. and 9 a.m. and again between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m.

Our office keeps daytime hours, so most appointments fall outside the worst of the evening rush. Even so, it is smart to leave 15 minutes earlier than you think you need to. Arriving early and sitting in the parking lot beats arriving late and feeling rushed.

Watch for Construction on I-10

The Arizona Department of Transportation is rebuilding a stretch of I-10 through Tucson between Park Avenue and Country Club Road. The work includes new lanes, a rebuilt interchange at Kino Parkway, and the removal of the old Palo Verde Road interchange. Ramp closures and lane restrictions come and go while the project continues.

Before you leave home, check az511.gov or dial 511 from any phone for current conditions. A one minute check can save you 20 minutes of sitting in a work zone.

An Alternate Route If I-10 Is Backed Up

You can skip most of the construction by leaving I-19 earlier. Stay on I-19 north and take the Ajo Way exit. Turn right and follow Ajo Way east until it reaches Alvernon Way. Turn left on Alvernon and drive north to Grant Road, then turn right on Grant and left on Swan as described above.

This route uses city streets with traffic lights, so it is not always faster. It is a good backup when I-10 is stopped or when a ramp you need is closed.

Parking and Finding the Suite

The building has its own parking lot, so you will not need to hunt for a spot on the street or feed a meter. Our office is in Suite 205.

If walking is difficult for you, or if you need help getting from your car to the office, call us at 520-881-3989 before your appointment. We would rather know ahead of time so we can be ready to help you when you arrive. Many of our clients are dealing with pain, fatigue, or mobility problems, and no one here will think twice about it.

Getting to Tucson Without a Car

Sun Shuttle Route 421 connects Green Valley and Sahuarita to Tucson and links up with Sun Tran bus routes once you get there. Stops in Sahuarita include Sahuarita Town Hall, Rancho Sahuarita, and the Fry’s at Rancho Sahuarita.

Riding the bus takes considerably longer than driving, and you will need to transfer to a Sun Tran route to reach the Swan Road area. Give yourself plenty of time in both directions. For schedules and trip planning help, call Sun Tran customer service at 520-792-9222 or visit suntran.com.

Rides for People Who Cannot Use a Regular Bus

Sun Shuttle Dial-a-Ride offers curb to curb service for riders with disabilities who live outside Tucson city limits, and Sahuarita is included. Vehicles are wheelchair accessible. Reservations are required and can be made from one to seven days ahead by calling 520-792-9222.

Inside Tucson city limits, Sun Van provides paratransit service for riders certified as eligible under the Americans with Disabilities Act. To ask about eligibility, call 520-791-5409. Transportation help is also available through several of the community and vocational support programs that serve Sahuarita residents.

If a friend or family member is driving you, the same directions above apply. Many clients bring someone along to help with paperwork and to remember what was discussed.

You May Not Need to Make the Drive at All

A disability claim involves a lot of paperwork, but very little of it requires you to be in the room. Much of the work is handled by phone, mail, email, and secure fax. Social Security hearings are frequently held by telephone or online video rather than in person, and our guide to preparing for a disability hearing when you are traveling from Sahuarita explains what to expect either way.

If travel is hard on your health, say so when you call. We will tell you which steps truly need an office visit and which ones do not.

What to Bring If You Do Come In

Bring a photo ID, any letters or notices you have received from Social Security, and a list of your doctors, clinics, and current medications. If you have already applied and been denied, bring the denial letter, because the dates on it matter for your appeal deadline.

Do not worry if your records are incomplete or disorganized. Bring what you have. Gathering the rest is part of what we do, and our guide on where to get medical records in Sahuarita shows you how to request them from local providers before your visit.
